Who are we?

Oléron is a special territory that should be shared, protected and promoted.

The Explore Oléron network links 11 of the most noteworthy sites of the île d’Oléron and covers the history of the island, the salt marshes, oyster-farming, flora and fauna, the lighthouse, architecture… Explore Oléron’s role is to offer all our visitors, young or old, the wealth of our island heritage.

Our objectives are many: safeguarding and promoting the wealth of the island’s heritage, facilitating access for all to our island cultural heritage, developing green, cultural tourism, maintaining an annual cultural dynamic.

The choice of sites relies on criteria that guarantee the coherence and relevance of the network. For our visitors, these criteria are a sign of quality in terms of welcome and services on offer.

Explore Oléron has been financed and led by the île d’Oléron local authority which acts to protect and promote local heritage.
