Discover the history of the île d’Oléron and its habitants through a selection of items relating to the jobs and costumes of years gone by. It’s the must-visit site to explore the island’s heritage.
Oléron’s heritage – in a fun way!
The introduction deals with the evolution of the island since prehistory. Then the museum looks at the daily life and traditional activities of the islanders during the 19th and 20th centuries before showing the attractions of the island for the very first tourists and artists.
The museum is accessible to all, families and groups and has a pedagogical trail and numerous visiting aids such as films, digital apps, tactile models, oral testimonies and games booklets.
Temporary exhibition of paintings from 12 February to 11 December 2022 : “OLÉRON, an island and its landscapes”.
